Tap at BPBW, Day 2, 2024 edition. Murky dark brown-black body, didn't note the head. Somehow papery dark malt-dominated taste, chocolate and roast. Lean, dry, roasty taste, some smooth caramelly notes, not much in terms of a barrel presence and it didn't sit with me at the moment. Hope to try again, have to go against the grain here.

Panda thanks to Cloin. Opaque black brown beer, decent bubbly darkish tan head. Smooth palate, mildly dry, good fine carbonation. Smooth and fairly light dark malts, light as in gob fondle. Soft but rich dark chocolate cake malts entertain a forward but smooth bourbon that has a savoury edge. No real alcohol heat! Smooth finish. Yeah, superior chocolate cake doused in much bourbon. What's not to like?

Black with a khaki cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is roast malts, dark fruit rinds, charr, ashen tones, raisins, chocolate, mellow barrel.
Taste comprises milk chocolate, roasted bite, spice, bourbon rinse, fruit cake, raisins.
Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced lick of alcohol.
Tidy sipper but a common theme I find with Blackout is the need for more barrel presence.

Bottle at home. Pours black, nose is chocolate, toffee, vanilla, coconut, taste is dark chocolate, salty, caramel, vanilla, bourbon, quite boozy.

Tap at Billies. Black, tan head. Huge licorice, roasted malts, tar, soft bourbon, earthy roast. Quite sweet and bitter. Thick full body.

3/4/2022. Bottle from Blackout Brewing, part of pack 5. A big 15% beer for rating #15000 and brewery #4000. Pours rich, black, with a large deep tan coloured head. Looks amazing. Aroma is loaded with chocolate, wood, bourbon, truffle, caramel, touches of salt, liquorice, treacle and biscuit. Well balanced sweetness with medium to heavy roasted chocolate bitterness. Thick and sticky. Soft carbonation. Superb beer.
