Brewed with beet masters McColl’s Brewery, we added fresh beetroot to a classic ESB, imparting a complimentary sweet earthy note to the rich, malt body offered by the combination of Chevalier, Crystal, Aromatic and Black grains alongside floral Goldings hops from Kent.

Can from Against The Grain. Hazy amber/ruby body with a creamy beige head. Steady carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of rocket, beetroot and wild garlic. Flavour of earth and beetroot with a tangy finish. Medium body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. A bit like drinking a heavily smoked beer, this takes few gulps to get used to it - the beetroot is tangy and earthy - but it’s pretty tasty.

Can shared with my bro. It pours lightly hazy deep chestnut brown with a decent bubbly white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, juicy, tangy, plenty of fruit, plum, sweet beet, prune, raisin, sultana, brown bread, purple gatorade, fruit cake, brown sugar, caramel and cola. The taste is drying, bitter, woody, sappy, resinous, varnish, touch of spice, jammy purple fruits, plum, prune, blackcurrant, earthy beetroot, damp grain, dried leaf, leathery and toasty grain with a drying, earthy finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Interesting stuff. Somehow works well. Novel.
