We felt it was time hops went sols and got their own prime-time show. IPA is Dead showcases killer hop varieties to create radically different single hop IPAs.

Each IPA contains the same malt backbone and is brewed to be 75 IBU and is enthusiastically kettle hopped and dry hopped with one of our favourite hops. IPA is Dead strips back the complex layers and exposes the beating heart of an IPA; the hops, in all of their transparent glory.

Can you say you’ve ever experienced 100% pure hop aweseomess? IPA is Dead is brewed and bottled to do just that. IPA is Dead. Long live IPA

Tap at Gar Eden. Fruity, bit wheaty, dryness. Light mustiness. Quite crisp, bit of citrus. Decent enough.

Keg at Brewdog Shepherds Bush. Deep amber with a large white head. Pine and tropical fruit in a heavy-handed hoppiness with some caramel and (surprisingly) cocoa behind. Yeah, it’s fine, but I’m feeling like I’m kind of done with the IPA is Dead saga now.

Half-pint keg in the Birmingham outlet, sure it said 6.3% ABV on the board. Poured an orange/amber with a beige topping. The aroma was mild citrusy with a floral hint or two. Taste a little sweeter than the nose suggested but the hops still ruled the flavours throughout the brew with a mixed bag of fruits. Expected more hops and more bitterness, liked it though.

Keg at Brewdog Edinburgh. Pours cloudy amber, thin white head. Big tropical fruit aromas, almost like fruit salad sweets. Something musty though too. Taste is surprisingly light, not very bitter. Green veg on the finish. Ok.

Keg at BD Sheps Bush, 27/08/14. Opaque orange amber with a well appointed light beige covering that dissipates then retains. Nose is juicy citric peel, mango, light floral, mandarin, hops. Taste comprises apricot, trace of honey, light perfume, pine, mandarin, blood orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, subtle hop bitterness in the close. Ok IPA, pretty mellow and no hop bomb but a plesant enough drinker.
