Nature breaks out through the eyes of the cat was the proverb which inspired the name of our dry Irish stout. It’s deep and dark with notes of coffee in the aroma, the flavour is roasty with hints of dark chocolate culminating in a delightfully dry finish.

Cask at Hops, Crewe. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head and good lacing. There’s roasted malts, oats and coffee in the aroma. In the mouth it is sweet with roasted malts, lactose and chocolate. Later there are hints of cola and slight bitterness leading to a dry finish. This is a good solid all round stout

Cask at Brasshouse, Brum. Aroma is malty with a light berry edge. Dark. Cola brown in the light. Frothy off-white head soon starts to thin out. Sour berries. Coffee. Underlying veg and malts. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Nice enough.
