Black Forest Gateau Stout
A complex malt profile lends the rich cakey mouthfeel in this stout with layered flavours of biscuit, caramel and dried fruit. Sour morello cherries ? and cocoa nibs then elevate the flavour and aroma to recall the decadent dessert that inspired the beer.

18/4/2025. Draft at Briarbank’s Spring Beer Festival, Ipswich. Less BFG but really nice banana bread aroma. Enjoyed it.

440ml can from Sandy Balls Holiday Village farm shop. Drunk at home. Pours pitch black, no head or lacing. A mixed bag of artificially sweet elements. No chocolate or cherry notes that would warrant the black forest gateaux tag. Syrupy mouthfeel. Becomes very unappealing way before the end.
