500ml bottle from Beer District, Buxton. Pours a misty dark cola brown, large beige head. Exceptionally smoky woody aroma from the start. Taste sees a confident smoky character with a woody bitterness, not too much in the smoked ham department, a touch dry and ashy overall. Not bad.

Cask at Alexandra, Derby. Pours a very dark mahogany drown – almost black. The nose has some biscuits in it. In the mouth it is a combination of sweet malts and dark fruits. Finish is quite bitter. They say this is a smoked dunkel – I’ll take their word for it !
