Schwarzbier - Black Lager
One time Mr. Raccoon took a long walk through a long field of tall grass. When he got to the edge, there was nothing. It was space. A vacuum. Being an adventuresome tiny bear rodent, he jumped off, but not into something, into nothing. As he fell through the starless abyss, in swooped Senorita Nighthawk, grabbing him by the neck scruff and flapping him off further into the darkness. There they came upon Archduke Flying Bear, and they all sang a song of bliss and ignorance and beers and laughter before going poof and becoming nothing. This nothing becomes an ethereal smooth dark lager from Thuringia.

Cheap single from GBX. Still on the dark lager kick. Pint glass @home. opaque but filtered ruby brown pour underneath. Frothy, pale batter head. Caramel roast over a stiff herbal nose. Cookie batter, caramel, English Breakfast tea, weak prickly hop bite, lingering steel & a bit of dirt. Frothy & thin, medium acid, a bit too sweet. Okay.

Pour is a black with a tight tan head. Aroma is roasted malt and cocoa powder. Flavor is more of a dark fruit with a minor roast and a wee bit of sour in the finish. Aroma was headed in the right direction but the flavor was a little lackluster.

12 oz can. Clear dark mahogany pour with a large khaki head and excellent retention. Decent lacing. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Great roasted malts taste. Similar to a stout, but smoother. Really good.
