Brasserie d'Achouffe Houblon Chouffe IPA

Houblon Chouffe IPA

ABV: 9.0%   IPA - Belgian Out of Production
Highly sought-after by connoisseurs, Houblon CHOUFFE is a strong beer - 9% alc./vol., with a bitter and fruity taste. To recreate the bitterness of IPAs, we add three types of hops to our brews: Tomahawk, Saaz and Amarillo. Houblon CHOUFFE is the first Belgian IPA. Taste this magnificent beer and you can appreciate its subtle grapefruit note. This beer is also extremely popular as an ingredient in culinary dishes.

The gnomes of Fairyland may be little, but they have big, very big, personalities. HOUBLON CHOUFFE matches their impish spirits. All gnomes, with their innate good taste, are in full agreement about HOUBLON CHOUFFE, which is flavoured by three different types of hops. This India Pale Ale is appreciated for its pronounced bitterness combined with the fruity tones of traditional Achouffe beers: it softens the strongest of characters.

330ml bottle, Les Crepes de Sophie, Shrewsbury, around 2013. Pours a hazed golden yellow, vibrant white head. Aroma of familiar Chouffe yeast, fresh hop, leaf, grapefruit. Continues to taste, bright hoppy character, good grapefruit bitterness with some noticeable yeasty shades. Excellent Belgian IPA.

Houblon Chouffe IPA.

Bottle (Best before end 9/2023) pour from The Beer Store, Salem. It's a lightly hazy yellow with tons of sparkle, thin cap of off-white head with good retention and light lacing. Aroma is strong pine, fruit esters, bread, yeast. Taste is piney bitterness over milder fruity esters, late cracker. It's light-to-medium bodied with smooth, frothy texture, lively carbonation and very dry finish. Alcohol well hidden. Elements of both styles are evident but too biased to the bitter hops.

Servida en tulipa, color amarillo pajizo opaco, espuma blanca bien conservada. Aroma a levadura belga, flores, fruta, cereal, malta, bizcocho, resina, especias... Gran cerveza

Draught @ Broadway Dive Bar. Cloudy lemon yellow with a very small frothy whitish head, faint citrus aroma, low carbonation, bitter citrus peel-mint taste, thin body, long bitter finish. Interesting flavors but also quite bitter.
