Our duo of beers, Robert and Jannemie, is an homage to our dear friend Floris’s parents who have hosted us many times at their home in Antwerp, Belgium! Jannemie is a Saison brewed using both American and European malts and hops and a distinctive strain of farmhouse yeast. Primary fermentation took place in one of our unique open-top fermenters, which are perfectly designed for brewing yeast-forward styles like Saison. Additionally, due to the secondary fermentation in this bottle from the Brettanomyces yeast, this beer has bright notes of jasmine and baking spice with a dry finish.

Pours hazy yellow into a tulip. Bright white head tophats before receding. Lemon and brett aromas. Sharp with sweet hay, band aid, aspirin and lemon meringue upfront turning to a lasting earthy hop funk finish.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy golden with a medium white head. Aroma brings out a huge load of clean funky brett, loads of rustic farmhouse notes, and some hay. Flavour is a little less funky, with loads of rustic farmhouse notes, buggy brett, and some hay. Clean and rustic, with a great yeast expression, and crisp, biting, bitter finish. Excellent.

Poured from a 375 ml bottle. Aroma is yeast-driven with fruity notes of pineapple, cherry and pear. Light phenolic notes of pepper and coriander. Light floral notes. A light poopiness. Pours a slightly hazy, pale, yellow gold with a large, thick, pillowy white head that recedes slowly. Medium lacing and faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with a light grain note. Moderate bitterness. Medium light peppery phenolic notes with hints of coriander and clover. Medium light fruity notes of pineapple, pear, and cherry. Light floral notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium high carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent Saison. The Brett adds some nice fruity and floral notes, but it makes the phenolic notes worse.
