Another big stout from the cellar at 8 Wired. Brewed with an irresponsible amount of barley, then aged for a year in Hawke's Bay Merlot barrels. Big roasted flavours rounded out with rich berry notes from the residual wine.

One pint, .9 fl oz bottle that I got at Total Wine in Santa Fe, NM this summer. My first NZ beer to taste and rate, it looks promising as I appreciate imperial stouts significantly. The label says 2017, vintage apparently. This evening I have my Buffalo Bayou tulip glass in place, the cap is pulled and I pour. Now that is a thick liquid, absolutely black, with a thin skim of mahogany brown foam that sees a steady recharging. The scent is nice, chocolate, a bit of roast and some barrel impression. And I take a drink, well, it is unique and in a good way. Dark chocolate, burnt toast, a hint of toffee, some sourness from the wine and malt. There's a fair bitterness completing. A complex imperial stout, rather interesting and enjoyable.

On tap at Aslan Depot, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is very complex and elegant, with lots of red wine barrels, roasted malt, and tannins. Flavour is exquisite, with lots of red wine barrels, tannins, and roasted malt. The red wine works perfectly with the roast, leaving just the right amount of tannins. This is lovely.

Bottle. Black with an inch of tan head that fades gradually. Aroma of blackberries, roasted malt, coffee, oak, some smoked almonds. Full bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. Tastes much as it smells with nicely integrated berry, roasted, mocha and lightly smoky flavours. Perhaps a little soy sauce. Gentle bitterness is enough to make a finish. No overt booze. Lovely stuff.

Na kwasno ten stout, na szczescie na wisniowo kwasno. Ale tez na tanicznie, czekoladowe nitki dopiero na dalszymmplanie. Dobre, ale tylko tyle. Za to niewatpliwie ciekawe. Nie pod gust

Bottle split at L6 Tasting, thanks to Kenny, 27/06/19. Black with a decent tan head. Nose is dark chocolate, mellow barrel, toffee, spice, dried fruits. Taste comprises light charr, chocolate, spice, mellow roast, nutty, dried fruits. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Drinks easy for the ABV but I expected more … lacks depth of flavour and character for me.

Bottle shared in London - cheers to Kenny. Pours black-brown with a frothy, tan head. Nicely rounded, with notes of dark fruits, strong roast, ash, scorched earth. Full bodied, oily, with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish. Good stuff.
