Tree of Fortitude is our signature barleywine that has been aged in a variety of flavored Rum barrels between 14–20 months. It utilizes several distinct ingredients to both enhance and elevate the base beer to new, intriguing places.

By implementing careful doses of vanilla, coconut, and lime, it carries flavors and aromas of sweet brown sugar, soft candied coconut, and a delightful underlying hint of lovely citrus. Once combined, these independently recognizable flavors harmonize into a pleasant blend that may just transport you to a more tropical locale.

Wherever you find yourself drinking Tree of Fortitude, we hope you enjoy it in good company and in good health. Cheers!

Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 03/08/2025.
Lighter shade of black with a khaki cap that runs to the edge.
Nose is caramel, vanilla ice cream candied fruit rinds, brown sugar melt, toffee.
Taste comprises molasses, rummy depths, vanilla, caramel streak, sultanas, light spice, hint of chocolate, coconut shavings.
Full bodied, oily feel, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost and pleasing rum embrace.
Oh yeah - hits the fucken spot!

Bottle, rather expensive one all told. A slightly muddy looking brown - amber beer, with a short lived pale tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, decent fine carbonation. The palate rides in simpatico with the smooth rich caramel and cream malts, a really nice creamy element. The rum barrelling is smooth but very forward and, pleasingly ester free. Soft smooth but rich and spicy ripe fruits with an overcoat of rum and a little oak induced vanilla. Smooth but light touches of coffee and dark chocolate. Soft rich ripe fruity finish carries the rum spice on for a bit. Well then, this was a very pricey BW. But, confirmation bias aside, it's very much worth it. Super duper, and could drink this until things started shutting down. 2 pints should do it!

Bottle. Dark brown color with tiny beige head. Aroma is coconut, vanilla, caramel. Taste is rum, vanilla, intense, not much lime. Thick mouthfeel, low carbonation. Good!

Bottle drunk 9/15/23. Syrupy, viscous, dark mahogany. Clear, small, dark beige head. Well it seems they've done it again...Super mellow, but rich nose full of caramel, maple, vanilla and spicy rum. Almost juicy with seemingly balanced acidity and good attenuation of malts. No booze. Burst of rum-like spice and fruity acidity balances perfectly the rich, chewy, moderately syrupy caramel-maple-vanilla malt flavors. It's delectably acidic on the finish to balance the massive maltiness. Rich, chewy, decadent but ultimately balanced and lovely. The rum is done so nicely.
