This small Snowbirds variant release is from 19 year bourbon barrels aged for 2 years. We then conditioned it on vanilla from East Timor that has a unique beautiful and subtle fruity vanilla character.

Dark brown. No head. Big vanilla aroma with a touch of coffee. The vanilla is the star here, it's gorgeous and there's a lot of it. On the palate, there's a lot of vanilla, a bit of coffee and chocolate. There's some sugars, but less than usual for Other Half. What's more, that relative lack of sugar (relative), actually helps the vanilla pop. The alcohol and barrel provide a touch of dryness. The overall balance is refined, this excels in subtle ways.

500mL bottle, pours jet black, almost no head. Nose is decadent, with intense vanilla beans, deep bourbon, and a surprisingly pungent marshmallow-y character. Flavour surprisingly lacking in sugars, with intense vanilla beans, moderate bourbon presence, and big marshmallow. For something so vanilla bean-forward and prominent on bourbon barrels, the sugars seem to be totally attenuated out, or at least hidden beneath the booze. Very good in a way I wasn’t expecting.

500mL bottle. Pours nearly black with no head; legs. Bourbon, vanilla, dark fruits, and some sugars on the nose. Flavour has bourbon, vanilla, dried dark fruits, light sugars; fairly boozy finish.

Sample at the DC outpost pours a oily, leggy, still cola black. No head. Long legs. Nose has cocoa and malt and molasses. Big raw brown sugar note. Booze. Flavor is an ode to molasses and brown sugar, caramel, malt, toast, some licorice. Coffee arrives and balances nicely. Roasty, dried berry. Full, sticky, boozy finish. Long.
