Seek the forbidden. Tread against the grain. The tides of cynicism shift throughout time. Justification lies ahead. A beer inspired by an evening of cocktails and dessert shared with the folks at The Eighth State Brewery at Greenville's Sum Bar. A blend of four carefully selected six hour boil stout bases was met with heaps of macaroon coconut before being conditioned on house toasted sesame, red bean paste, and lime zest candied in our kettles. After that we dosed it with a swath of rum barrel aged Madagascar vanilla beans to create an encompassing experience of coconut red bean mochi and candied lime chocolates all washed down with a rum snifter.

Bottle: pours black oily with small head. Aroma is whisky, coffee, dark chocolate and loads of coconuts. Taste is sweet, robust, coconuts and coffee. Thick body. Booze is well enough.

Forestry Camp stemless. Shiny, off-black, obviously opaque, brown highlights. Earthy sweet, nutty candy bar, fatty salt, cola nose, kinda subtle. The sweet coconut oil over bittersweet toasted sesame is such a nice combo. Earthy, aged bitter veg middle, cola, burnt caramel, some ever slightly sharp/pokey bitter citrus rind. Toasty malt, no burnt edges. Carob. Medium low carb, much thinner body than expected, which is great. Booziness is more like just warming. Great, great beer.
