Stout aged in bourbon and rum barrels. This stout is inspired by the ‘Vinos olvidados’ (forgotten wines-some of which are aged 84 years before bottling) of Spain. High residual sweetness (17% sugar) and acidity, with just enough carbonation to protect against oxidation. Molasses and dark chocolate dominate, with vanilla, allspice and tobacco lingering in the background. This bottle is meant to be shared, served around 50f, and can be corked and stored for a few days after opening without losing it’s charm.

500 ml bottle from the Schuylkill Banks location last summer. Deep black color. Aroma is soft rum, chocolate, vanilla from bourbon. Flavor is exquisite. Rum and bourbon are equally balanced. Chocolate malt backbone with a smooth texture. To the point of being silky. 13.5 is completely hidden. DAMN this is wonderful!

Bottle shared by CLW--thanks, Chris! Opaque black with thin ring of head, light viscosity, no lacing. Aroma is good strength and extraordinarily balanced, bourbon and rum, late earthy stout w/chocolate and vanilla accents. Taste is well-balanced bourbon, rum, base earthy malt, wood, mild chocolate and vanilla. Silky smooth texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste, where the hell is the the alcohol. Exceptional balance and nice complexity. Wonderful all around. Beautiful sipper.

Bottle from HR Schuykill Banks: pours black, small head. Aroma is rum, vanilla, chocolate, figs, dark fruit. Taste is sweet, booze well covered, some bitterness, liqueur, butterscotch.
