Brewed to the original specs of a beloved Irish lager, as it would have been done in the 1960’s. We brought in floor malted lager malt from warminster malting and performed a cereal mash/decoction with corn grits. The beer is hopped in the kettle with Saaz and Styrian Goldings followed by a classical Bavarian style fermentation, with natural carbonation and cold maturation. This recipe can be found in Ron Pattinson’s book titled “Lager” and follows the original process outlined in the notes from the breweries that brewed the beer back then.

Pint can courtesy of mansquito. Pours a clear yellow gold color with a smaller sized white head that soon recedes. The aroma is faint with some corn and grains. The taste is mild grains, some breads and a bit of bitter grassy hops. The palate is thin and crisp. Finishes short and dry. Overall: Decent for a lager.

16 oz can. Crystal clear, gold appearance. Aroma is nothing but slight corn. Flavor shows week honey with flaked corn. Crisp texture with a slight sweet green finish. Very simplistic. As it should be.

Draught at Jenkintown: pours very pale with white head. Aroma is light breadiness and mellow hints of grass. Very light with a bit of a sweet finish. Very well made, but limited in what this beer can accomplish.
