Prodigal is an imperial oatmeal milk stout with a massive fudge and roast malt character. It’s a foundation for some of our favorite stouts, now here to stand on its own adorned with only a handful of cacao nibs and Madagascar vanilla beans to round out the edges.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color ale with a large brown foamy head. Aroma of rich chocolate notes with some light roasted malt and residual sugar notes is very enticing. Taste is similar to fudge with rich black chocolate notes, some residual sugar notes and light roasted malt. Body is full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol notes. Massive oatmeal stout that retains lots of drinkability.

Keg at Hop Locker 3 - London. Pours oily black with a dense, lasting brown cream head. Lots of burnt marshmallows in the nose, cocoa, roast, dark berries. Medium to big sweet flavour with notes of bittersweet baking cocoa, raisins, creamy vanilla, grape, mild bitter earth and coffee. Full bodied, fairly oily and chewy, with fine carbonation. Warming finish with some sticky bent sugars, vanilla cream, more baking cocoa, a little bitter ashy roast. Pretty solid overall.

Keg at HL3. It pours opaque jet black with a thick, sturdy dark tan head. The aroma is intense rich roasted malts, sweet, sticky, indulgent, fudge cake, chocolate pie, toasted marshmallow, vanilla and coffee action. The taste is slick, bitter - sweet, rich roasted malt, charred wood, toasty, umami, liquorice, dark chocolate, chocolate cake, cacao, earth, fudge, toasted marshmallow, vanilla and some alcohol warmth with a slick, rich roasted finish. Full body and fine, foamy carbonation. Rich and decadent, but thankfully not too sweet. A rather classy adjunct impy, if such a thing exists.

Keg at HL3, 13/07/18. Black with a decent dirty tan head. Nose is richl roast, spice, chocolate, charr, toffee, light herb. Taste comprises dark chocolate, light black peppery spice, toffee fudge brownies, dark fruit rinds, rocky roads, molasses, vanilla. Full bodied, oily feel, balanced warming boost. Decent impy ... sweet and sticky but the light spice coating gives balance.

Tap at HL3. Pours black with a dirty tan head that faded. Aroma is chocolate, black treacle, fudge, a little coffee and molasses. Taste is a sweet chocolate fudge hit, black treacle and molasses with the booze adding in a spicy finish to take off the sweetness. Good stuff
