The deep mahogany hue of this Southern English Brown Ale is a hint of what’s in store for the drinker. Toffee and chocolate notes greet the nose and then the palate. This medium bodied brew would pair well with roast pork, hearty beef stew, or grilled steaks.

Taster at Midnight. Dark brown, opaque pour, ring of off-white head. Roasty malt aroma, simple. Taste is light roasted malts, bordering on porter territory. No frills brown ale.

16oz pint at Sehkraft in Arlington. Pours a watery brown with some creamy, spitty, slightly off white head. Nose is solid for a brown, some yeast, a little grist, mild bread crust, a little almond skin, some mild turbinado sugar. Flavor has all the same, yeasty, some dried cocoa, light nuts, toast, grist, hints of unprocessed sugar. Dry finish. Pretty good for a brown ale.

Maple syrup, some boiled cabbage on the nose. Crystal clear chestnut, thick yellow head. Chlorine, cabbage, and maple syrup flavor. Obvious DMS. Medium body. Infected and probably fairly weak in the first place.
