At the source: pours amber with a white head. Aroma is dark fruit and caramel malt. Taste is sweet with low bitterness. Solid.

12 oz. can. Pours a clear, brown color, with a medium, foamy, tan head. The nose is leather, hickory smoke and light peat, caramelized sugar, and pumpernickel. Sweet and bready, with a mild, pleasant bitterness. Medium body, with a lively, malty palate. This is a mellow, malty, and enjoyable beer. Nicely done!

No date on the can.
Pours a deep amber red with a small head of foam..
It smells malty, fruity, bready but they are all on the light side.
The taste is more assertive. Nice bread, some caramel, light hints of fruit. Bits of grain. Good.
Good mouthfeel.
Overall, I would say that it's a decent stab at the style. Doesn't quite make it to something special.

Can - clear ruby pour - clean, rich malt showcase here - deep caramelized malt complexities of caramel, dark bread, cherry - a light spiciness through the middle with a warming finish - a little drier in the finish, with some noticeable hops - lingering warmth after the swallow - it’s quite good.

Tap at the brewery - clear Amber - as usual with this brewery, a clean, rich, well-executed example of the style - rich caramelized malts, lightly herbal and floral Noble hops, dark bread, raisin - subtle but complex - nicely done.
