We Danes have loved beer for nearly 5000 years. But these days, we sometimes want to go alcohol-free. So thank goodness for our Nordic Ale. It's everything you'd expect from a great pale ale - golden in colour, with an intense hoppy aroma, and a satisfying bitterness - but containing just 0.5% alcohol. Skål!

330 ml can, from BilkaToGo, Skalborg. ABV is 0.5%. Clear deep golden to brown colour, moderate to small white head. Aroma of malts, wort and bread. The flavour is first citric, then bready, with metallic bittering hops in the finish. Won't buy again.

Tap at the Aviator Lounge, Copenhagen Airport. Poured a crystal clear golden colour with a lasting frothy white head. The aroma is stale malt, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate to light bitter, with a light, crisp, malt, earthy, herbal, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Obviously not a classic, but it’s far from being the worst low alcohol beer I’ve ever had.

0.33 l can from 'Bierothek', best before January 2022. Clear, amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish, slightly fruity-floral aroma of orange, grains and peach. Gently sweet, slightly bitter, moderately fruity-floral taste of orange, grains and light mango, followed by a short, gently bitter, slightly dry, minimally resiny finish. Medium body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Not bad, well-balanced, quite subdued.

Draught @ Billund Airport. Pours clear golden with a creamy white head, lacings. Aroma of malt, caramel, corn, hay. Flavor is sweet, malt, corn, light caramel, light sugar, little hay, little cardboard. Thin body, average carbonation, sweet finish. 200220

Can 330ml. @ home. [ As Carlsberg Nordic Ale ].Unclear medium to light amber yellow colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light moderate malty, sweet malt, cereal, light caramel. Flavor is light moderate sweet with a average duration, creal, sweet malt. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20190215] 3-3-4-2-6
