33cl Fles van Sterk, uit de uitverkoopbak voor €2,50. Zwart, beige kraag. Volle body. Lekker.

BO 06/02/2018, BB 06/02/2021, 330ml bottle
APPEARANCE: pitch black color with dark brown hues under the light, cappuccino like brown-ish head
AROMA: rich dark sugars on the nose, loads of brown sugar, dark caramel, toasted bread and bread crust, dried fruits like raisins, figs and prunes, bitter chocolate, coffee, cocoa powder, hints of tart cherries and oatmeal underneath, forest honey, faint dried thyme, subtle umami vibe; alcohol is hidden and no sign of oxidation
TASTE: low carbonation (slightly to low), smooth syrupy and oily mouthfeel, medium full body; fairly sweet onset with loads of toasted sugars, especially melting brown sugar, syrup, hard candy, sweet chocolate, sweetened barley coffee, prunes, moderate roast bitterness in form of bitter chocolate and chicory, notes of wood and gentle plum brandy, no alcohol heat, lingering bitterness of 50% cocoa chocolate and subtle wood in the aftertaste, a very faint coconut note and hay, soft tartness that reminds at sharp dried fruits; smooth dryness in the finish
OVERALL: nearly three years old IS that aged nicely, the rich sweetness cut by a decent amount of roast bitterness but in my opinion slightly on the sweeter side with great dried fruits support from the combo of yeast and malts. Highly enjoyable sipper that goes down quickly

Half-pint, keg, shared with Finn at Plug & Taps in Preston. Spotty lacing from a creamy, fawn-coloured head. Coal black body. Smell of almond and mid-sweet chocolate malts. Nuts, chocolate and almond to the taste buds. Long-lived chocolate malty end, slightly roasted. Well bodied. Likable. (09.02.2019).

Dry and bitter. The beer too. Thick with lots of roasted flavours, and a nice sweetness breaking theough in the aftertaste. After warming more nuanced.

33cl bottle from Boxbeers. Poured pitch black in color. Thin off white head. Nice roastedness with sweetness, molasses, hint of soy sauce. Licorice, dark raw chocolate, sweetness, molasses in flavor as well. Thick, full bodied. I prefer imperial stouts that are drier but this a nice sipper though.
