Imperial Cream Stout with Cacao Nibs, Vanilla Beans and Milk Sugar

A beer so nice we named it twice! This decadent stout is brewed with two sources of chocolately goodness: cocoa nibs and chocolate malt, and both real vanilla beans and milk sugar, for maximum velvety creme-iness. It was no small feat creating a beer befitting of the legendary Joe-Joe's name, but it's certainly easy to enjoy. Level up this dessert treat by dunking in your favorite sandwich cookie.

16 ounce can from Trader Joe’s in Princeton, NJ. Jet black pour. Frothy tan head is substantial. Rich chocolate aroma smells just like Trader Joe’s Joe-Joe cookies. Flavor is more of the same. Rich cocoa, vanilla, bittersweet chocolate. Creamy mouthfeel. Sticky palate. Peppery finish and aftertaste.

Pour is a black with a large tan head. Aroma is all things cacao nibs. Smells like Hershey chocolate syrup. Flavor is more chocolate syrup with a slight dash of vanilla and a bit of alcohol. This beer should come with a vial of insulin because it is way sweet. Tasty yes but it was so sweet it kind of gave me a headache.

Can from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours dark brown with a huge creamy darkish tan head. Chocolate wafts from the pour. Med plus body. It's not dry, but not really very sweet. Bitter, seemingly from chocolate. Flavor is chocolate quickly followed by lots of vanilla. Lactose is discernible. Malt? I suppose. Smooth. A little earthy towards the finish. Much better than expected.

Pint can. Dark brown with a brown head. Chocolate candy, roast. Flavor is vanilla, chocolate candy, lightly metallic, cream. Would be nice with better quality chocolate.

16oz can, from Trader Joe's. Poured a pitch black, motor oil color with a small off-white head. Seeing the 9.2% abv, I think this is the same base beer that they use for the GBS. Aroma is light cream, sweet sugar notes. Vanilla. Pretty tasty actually, just about nailed the Joe-Joe flavor. Smooth.
