750 c&c from the Church venue. Pours dark brn/blk with a very transient slight head. Aroma is cinnamon, dark malt and a touch of chiles. Arguably full bodied. It's not dry, but not at all sticky. Flavor is cinnamon, heat, chiles, dark fruit, and a rum note. Not bitter, but it doesn't need to be. With time there's a little wood astringency. The dark fruit turns into raisin, and some malt pokes through all the other stuff. Complex and very flavorful. Slight touch of banana after a long while.

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is malt forward with caramel, toffee and toasted bread with hints of nuts. Moderate notes of cinnamon and lighter notes of chilies. Medium light notes of raisin and hints of prunes and dates. Light bourbon and alcohol notes with hints of oak. Pours brown with a small, thin, tan head that recedes quickly to the edges and disappears. No lacing and long legs. Flavor is fairly sweet with fairly strong notes of caramel and toffee with lighter notes of toasted bread and hints of nuts. Moderately strong bitterness and medium alcohol notes. Moderately strong raisin notes with hints of figs and dates. Medium cinnamon and light chili pepper notes that add some heat that lingers in the finish. Light bourbon notes and hints of oak. Mouthfeel is fairly full bodied and a bit silky with low carbonation. Low astringency and medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright beer but definitely not my favorite. I don't love cinnamon in beers, but I do like chilies and the heat they bring in big beers. It's a bit on the sweet side and I'm surprised there isn't more barrel character. I'm glad the raisins aren't overpowering, but I also wonder if they are even necessary in this beer.

Bottle. Pours clear reddish mahogany, no head or lacing. Aroma is spiced, cinnamon, rum, vanilla, chili pepper, but pleasant. Flavor is a kick to the nuts; medium sweet, highly spiced, minimal pepper heat, cocoa. Light bitter. Medium body, flat. Well, it ain't great, but it was free 3,7,5,3,13
