375ml waxed bottle. I let this come to temp. Pours a clear garnet amber with a ring of beige head. Leggy. Nose is all quad, candy, malt, date, raisin, dig, whiskey, red wine lees. Big umami notes. Flavor had whiskey and some ketchup or Quince paste, candy sugar, huge dried dark fruits. Smooth. Booze is there but it drinks 10% and not 17%.

375ml bottle, 2017 vintage. Caramel malt aroma with notes of dark fruit, toffee, spicy yeast, vanilla, bourbon and oak. Pours deep toffee brown colored with a thin tan head that has no retention and no lacing. Starts with caramel, spicy yeast, oak and toffee flavors as well as having rich, full body and smooth mouthfeel. Finishes smooth with dark fruit, vanilla and bourbon flavors as well as some warming booze at the end, but still well hidden. Excellent!

Bottle. 19.26%. Pours a copper hue with almost no head. A big malty boozy nose. Rich, toffee, caramel, sweet sugary malts. Big heat, but actually very drinkable. Sweet banana esters.

Waxed, capped 375 from Tavour. Pours clear dark brown with a transient tan smear. Aroma of whiskey, dark fruit and chocolate. Med plus body. Flavor is whiskey, dark fruit, chocolate, and notes of banana and wood. Approaching sticky. Heat may provide the bitter. Banana comes forth ever more. Good flavor.

Waxed and capped 375 from Tavour at 18.7%. Pours dark brown, rather clear, with a decent, but transient, dark tan head. Aroma of the brown part of breakfast pastry with whiskey and dark fruit notes. Arguably full bodied. Flavor is that browned pastry, whiskey, dark fruits, chocolate. Not sticky, and drier than expected. Bitterness from heat, whiskey and oak astringency. Quite a drink.

Taster at the brewery - deep purple color - sweet dark fruit up front, followed by moderately spicy yeast phenolics that meld with late whiskey warmth through the finish - it's on the boozy side, which is a given due to the strength, but there's enough complexity going on from the yeast to keep it from being overwhelming.
