I’ve a 12 oz can of Dubbel provided by Half Time. I’m a long time between dubbels, hard to find. My Great Heights tulip glass is prepared to catch the pour and so I do. I tilt hard and get to see a tall creamy top of parchment tan foam with a very dark brown body underneath, rather lacey I can say also. The smell is full with grain, some dark fruit and a bit of herbal. I take a drink and am surprised to find the brew so thin. An okay taste but definitely not more. Malt, dark bread, raisins, yeast and paper. High expectations not fulfilled.

Caramel brown with a large foamy beige head that lingered and left great lacing. Sweet, malty and yeasty with notes of leather, fruit, astringency and booziness. Long finish. Moderately full bodied.

Undated can drunk 1/16/23. Medium-dark amber with plentiful copper and ruby highlights. Clear. Beige head is large, well-retained. LOL Barleywine-soaked raisins. Incredible. Nose is full of mineral, soft yeast esters and light phenols (mild pepper). Light raisin and prune suggestions with vanilla and light caramel. Everything is well-aged and in balance here with none of the gross, crude ester/phenol and smack you in the face raisin-plum that you usually get from most dubbels. No alcohol or flaw. A subtle richness with light spiciness for balance and seemingly well-attenuated malts. Light caramel and bread lingering. Soft, malty, with raisin-plum-caramel but all tempered and only mildly succulent, not sugary and with no crude acidity or overdone specialty malt breadiness/tannin. Vanilla, raisin, honey and soft pepper with round plum and bright fruit throughout. Lingering raisin and vanilla again with more plum but great dryness with touches of biscuity malt here and there. A really thoughtfully made dubbel. One of the only drinkable dubbels I've had in recent memory. These are all just a cheap cookie cutter yeast and let er rip fermentation at every American brewpub. Not that I expected that from OEC, but it's nice they went above and beyond here.

Can from Tavour. Pours clear mahogany with a large foamy beige head. Aroma is mostly raisin. Med plus body. Flavor is raisin with yeast/spice and noticeable banana. Not dry, but not sticky. Malt isn't very dark. A little heat and light bitter. Quite tasty.
