The beer that many members have been waiting for and the clear winner of the 2022 season's highest-clocked ABV, we present to you the appropriately named, Heavy Things. Brewed in collaboration with our friends at The Bruery, it is decadent barleywine co-fermented with maple syrup that pushes the limits of what our house yeast is capable of. We aged this in brandy barrels for eight months with the outcome of a waffle cone malt character with a measure of fruitiness. The unique fermentation and barrel finishing gives it a sweet and malty profile with vast flavors of maple syrup, toffee, bananas foster, candied apple, and figs.

Bottle shared at a recent tasting by MrBarleywine, thanks for the opportunity! Oh that is a big thick sweet sipper but the brandy and barrel character does a decent job of cutting through the maple and malty sweetness. Solid warming alcohol especially as this warms, nice sipper!

Bottle. Pours a bit unclear chestnut, small beige head, decent lacing. Aroma is dark sugars, werthers, toffee, oak tannin, vanilla, hint of cherry, brandy. Flavor is fairly sweet, light plus bitter, boozy. Brandy finish. Medium plus body.

Bottle from the brewery. Pours dark brn/blk with a transient tan head. Aroma of brandy and nice malt. Arguably full bodied. Flavor is brandy, nice malt, floral and non-musty wood. Not dry, but hardly sweet. Bitter is likely covered by heat. The heat is ever present, but simply flavor. This is very tasty ale.
