On a pilgrimage for immortal craft beer we tripped on some heavenly drops of beer with amazingly overwhelming aromas of chili peppers and more, a thick fudge-like body, pitch black color and obviously only made in limited amounts. And the taste.... furthermore jesus!

This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a thin finger-ed film of a head roaming and then settling to a nice settled lace all around.
The smell took in the roasty coffee bean and then the settled smooth cocoa bean with the chili spices hitting just right.
The taste was moderately spicy with the sweetness and roastiness running in underneath. Subtle yet nicely balanced to the flavor. Chili spice hits in the aftertaste and then the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a medium on the body with a nice feel all around. Chili spice does hit but so does the roasty portion. Its good.
Overall, I dig this one as an Imperial Stout. I’d have it again.

12 Oz bottle poured. Pours a near black with an active tan fading fizz head. Bold dark chocolate, dark fruit and spice aroma. Flavor is super chocolatey upnfront, and smoothly transitions to a dominant and lingering chili spice. Has the pepper flavor specifications I love. Prefect amount to be obviously there, but not too much heat. I love pepper beers. Thick, chocolate cream body to pair, and get masked with the flavorful spice. Well executed chili stout here. Loved it.

Bottle: Pours oily black, with an equally oily, dark tan ring. Thick, dark chocolate, chile, smoky aroma. Flavour is bitter-sweet dark chocolate malt, burnt coffee, oak....with a nicely restrained chile burn. Alcohol heat, but not boozy. Big.....and wonderful.

The Sampler, Brooklyn tap: pours black with a brown head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, light chili, sugar, and roasted malts. Taste is sweet and lightly bitter. Alcohol is well covered. Not too hefty. Chili is very light in the taste. Well balanced.

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color with almost no head, just some sparse dark brown bubbles. Strong aroma of chocolate cake, dark chocolate, some glue. Thick mouthfeel, a bit oily; dark chocolate flavor, very roasty (less roasty or more sweetness would help), and then a pleasant chili kick; roasty in the final, coffeish, missing some depth though.
Nice, unbalanced though.

Bottle - Nice dark roasty notes with some sweetness and toffee. Jet black with a dark brown head. Deep dark roast with a nice dark chocolate and physical heat in the finish. Nicely done.

12 oz. bottle, pours a jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is potent, with notes of chili, roasted malt, and slight burnt cocoa. Flavour is prominent on the chilis upfront, followed by roasted malt, a touch of burnt quality (though that could just be the chilis), and dry cocoa. The chili infusion is expertly done, not causing too much burning or taking away from the complexity of the base beer. Very enjoyable.
