On a pilgrimage for immortal craft beer we tripped on some heavenly drops of beer with amazingly overwhelming aromas of chili peppers and more, a thick fudge-like body, pitch black color and obviously only made in limited amounts. And the taste.... furthermore jesus!

Inky, black liquid is opaque and has a burnt-tan head atop that shows moderate to moderately-high retention, in spite of the chili.
Not a lot in the nose, but nor is it overly boozey. Lots of ash, very light red pepper, some very minimal prune notes and a smattering of fudge. As it warms a touch, more vanilla and buttercream emerge, but so does a touch of alcohol.
The flavor is amply full of chili. Pretty high up there on the scoville scale, despite all of the malt backbone. Thick, chewy, almost chalky texture allows light fudge and vinous fruitiness, but it gains more roasted flavor, as well as ash, and finally ends on a thoroughly spicy note.
Not much finesse here, though I don’t think anyone was expecting that. I do appreciate the relative dryness and yet still large, thick body to help combat all the chili. Not a sugar bomb at all. Slightly alcoholic, and as usual, I’m left asking why this has to be 12% instead of, say, 9%. Probably not going to encourage me to go buy the other variants of this beer, but it was fun to try and pretty well-done all told.

33cl bottle - viscous black pour - pours with no head, though - nose of chocolate, coffee, tamarind, cookie dough, red wine - minimal chili presence in the nose - low to no carbonation in the mouth - flavors of bittersweet chocolate, cocoa, coffee, tamarind - chilies come in late, bringing a fair amount of heat, but nothing overpowering - maybe the chili heat is just slightly too high in the finish, but otherwise solid chili imperial - just wish it had a little more carbonation.

12 oz. bottle shared by Willrunforbeer, thanks. Black color. Aroma is strong chilies, coca nibs, mild roast

The flavor is a pretty good amount of brownie batter base/ chocolate with a steady pepper heat. Not over the top but the chili is known without a question. Pretty nice but not really top tier.

Thanks WillRun, Black but with some decent red edges. a solid espresso crema head. You get a definite espresso + habanero aroma. It’s spicy just in aroma alone. Up front, great extra roasted barley taste, with a lot of burnt coffee. the pepper is not really that intense. It fades pretty fast. Good but pretty forgettable. but one thing I can say is there’s not a lot of booziness for the ABV stated.

Bottle. A- Chilies, smoke. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Chilies, spicy, subtle cocoa. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, lingering spicy finish. O- This one just had to be good before I even took the first sip. It was good, but it didn’t live up to what I read in other reviews. I didn’t get a ton of chocolate or cocoa really. Tons of chilies though. A bit spicy to the point of almost being offensive. I think a couple months of aging would help. Damn does it look nice though. Wish I could give it at least a 6 for appearance.

Pours black into a tulip. Head quickly disappears to hug rim. Dark chocolate and mild pepper burn aromas. Dark chocolate and espresso upfront turning to pepper skin before the lasting slightly warm chocolate and chili burn finish.
