Caramel color with a large creamy head that left good lacing. Sweetish, fruity, perfumey and a bit astringent. Medium finish and body.

16oz can. At first sip comes off a little fruity, almost ale-like to me. Perhaps it is the hopping, which comes across a pinch fruity as well. Gets more of a steady malty feel after a few sips, but overall tastes more like an APA than an Oktoberfest.

Pour is a clear tan with a large white head. Aroma is toasted malt and fresh cut hay. Flavor is again more toasted malt with low bitterness. A no frills spot on example of the style.

Sampled from the at GTMW 2017. Pours a clear burnt orange with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has sweet grains, bread, a touch caramel and some straw notes. Flavor has notes of straw, sweet grains and touches of caramel and bread.

4 oz. Draft at Solemn Oath. Deep coppery beer under a thin head. Big malt smell, but with a slightly grassy fresh hop nose (yeah, I know that’s what the description says, but I picked it up myself, too). After two glasses of 9% beers, this one is doing me in. But it does have a lot of malt and some, I think, green hop. Plus a grainy malt note to the end. I’m thinking dry-hopping, but probably not.
