A robust stout with bold roasted notes and a mix of caramel malts, fermented with an English strain. Later conditioned on tonka beans, resulting in a dark, flavourful stout with hints of nutmeg, toasted almonds, and earthy woodsy aromas from the tonka beans.

28/9/2024. Can from Left Field Beer. Pours black with a small frothy tan coloured head. Good looking pour. Aroma is tonka bean, caramel, cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, coconut. Medium sweetness, moderate roasted bitterness. Moderate body, oily watery, average carbonation. Lacks depth, but nice aroma and looks.

440ml can from Left Field Beer, Solihull. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, fizzy tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, big tonka beans. The flavour is moderate liquorice bitter, light sweet, with a smooth, rich, herbal, tonka, earthy, liquorice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

440ml can. Pours black with a tan head. Aroma of tonka, dark chocolate. Taste of tonka, dark chocolate, a little roast malt, caramel, some woody herbal notes, bitter finish. Medium bodied.

Cask pour. Black with silken creamy head. Aroma has wood and tonka. Taste too, also some coconut. A bit thinnish but as expected for the low abv. Qualitatively good but Tonka is not my thing.

Cask at Heriot watt beer festival. Pours black, nose is chocolate, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, liquorice, taste is similar, roasted.

Black beer, tan head. Good tonka aroma. Flavour has tonka, toasty malt, some chocolate. Decent body and lingering tonka flavour. Very sessionable.
