29th February 2024 Keg at the Enid St Taproom. Opaque dark brown beer, good darkish tan head. Palate is airy, smooth and semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Fluffy but rich dark malts. Nice amount of dark malt cream overlaying some fruity dark chocolate. Back end is cream and rich coffee, a good fruity espresso much softened by the malt richness. Modest licorice. Soft milk chocolate coming through on the airy and semi dry finish. Tres drinkable. Multi faceted and with those facets in harmonious alignment.

Can from Eltham Wines. Black pour with a beige head. Nose is liquorice toffee, dark chocolate, cola, coconut. Taste is maple, sweet tobacco, dark chocolate, liquorice toffee, coffee, cola. Robust sweet malty mouthfeel. Lots of alcohol warmth. Sweet desserty finish. Yes indeed.

Can at home, from HOTM online, 21/02/24. Pitch black with a dirty khaki cap that retains well enough finally fading to a swirl. Nose is mellow roast, ripe dried fruit esters, charr, burnt toffee, cocoa powder, hint of liquorice. Taste comprises fruit cake mix, dark malts, charr, roasted bite, toffee, caramel, figs, dates, dark chocolate shavings, umami. Full bodied, fine carbonation, light drying close with a balanced kiss of alcohol. Solid Bal-TICK aktion.
