Poured from a bottle, as Hiver Brown Ale, half-pint, shared with Finn at Hiver Beers. Deep rosewood body, fair lacing from a film-type layer. Prominent aroma of honey, mid-dry. Honed caramel flavours. Honeyed sweet ending. Clean on the swallow. Gets too sweet in the long run. (Bermondsey, London 19.10.2019).

Keg at the bermondsey tap room. A light hazed copper amber coloured pour with a a sticky light beige head. Aroma is big honey, earthy, plastic. Flavour is composed of earthy honey, biscuit, golden graham's, light chalk. Palate is semi sweet, chalky, highish carbonation, spritzy carbonation. Interesting. Good.

Taster from bottle @ Hiver Beers & Taproom, 56 Stanworth St, Bermondsey, Greater London, England SE1 3NY. [ As Hiver The Honey Ale ].Clear medium to dark amber colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, caramel, ash, smoke - plastic. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average duration, ash, smoke, plastic, caramel, sweet malt, sweet malt - honey. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20180928] 4-3-4-3-8

330ml bottle, old of date when opened on 11th May 2018 (by some 6 months). A little annoyed because I only bought it last week! Anyway it poured a misty light brown with an off-white topping. an old 'Home Ales' half-pint glass tankard was used as the tasting vessel. Semi-sour with a light vinegar leaning (age?), plenty of old honey notes in both the nose and flavour, but a lesser person might have drain poured it, but not me. I did have it's sister 'Hiver The Honey Beer' open at the same time for a 'vertical tasting' before I noticed the age of this beer. Cobwebs rule with this brew!

Rocky white head stayed on a translucent, light brown, still body. Minimal aroma of malt & honey. Medium bodied, sticky & cloying. Quite well carbonated. Tastes like a cup of tea with honey added. A sweet sticky mess.

Bottle from Whole Foods. It pours clear deep reddish - brown with a medium white head. The aroma is sweet, honey upfront, caramel, fruit cake, cola and rivita. The taste is fairly sweet, honey, caramel, cola, brown bread, toasty brown sugar, fruit cake, wood and nut with a dry finish. Light - medium body and fine carbonation. Not a whole lot of depth to it. Fair.

Bottle at the brewery tap - Bermondsey. Purs clear, rich gold with a small, foamy head. Nice stuff, with rich honey and ample bready malts. Low bitterness. Medium bodied with average carbonation. OK balance in the finish, with more honey, toasty malts, dates. Fine.

Appearance- copper, clear, a small foamy covering of a head. Aroma- dark malts, fruitcake, raisin, lots of honey, treacle, earthy malt. Taste- malty brown bread, treacle toffee, sticky honey, slightly burnt fruitcake, raisin and other dark fruits, sweet honey-tinged finish, trace of hops in the background.
