2019 Vintage [release, labelled on bottle]: Super dark brown coloured body with a thick, relatively rich three centimetre tall off-white head that fades nicely and leaves a subtle lace on the sides. Aroma of molasses, brown sugar, light grain, a big earthy and. nutty scent along with some oak and woodsie notes and of course a ton of alcohol warmth noticeable near the end. Full-bodied; Very rich and powerful malt and earthy punch shows at first with a lot of graininess, but a ton more sugars and brown sugars noticeable than anything else with some pitted fruits coming through at the end, and the alcohol warmth is a bit hidden near the end from all the sweetness. Aftertaste shows some figs and plums with a lot of complexity from all the sugars with a fairly muted alcohol warmth hitting towards the end with a light dash of of almonds and walnuts hitting right at the finish. Overall, a super complex very robust beer with notes from all sorts of sugars and an excellent example of how many different beer types can be blended together to produce a complex, rich beer that still goes down relatively easily. I sort of wish I kept this, lugged this across the entire USA and half of the Pacific and aged it for a further five to ten years, but this was great to sample ‘fresh’ instead of doing all that! I sampled this 75 cL wax-sealed and capped bottle, purchased from Tamura’s Wine & Liqours in Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii on 12-April-2022 for US$24,39 sampled three days later in my hotel room here in Wailea, Maui, Hawaii on Spring Break 2022 with my wife and three kids.

Waxed, capped 750 from Tavour. Pours dark brown with a foamy tan head. Mixed aromas - including brown sugar and chocolate. Full bodied. Flavor has brown sugar, burnt malt, chocolate and some heat. It's rather complex. Takes a while for wood to pop up. Heat burns a bit, but it's within tolerable limits. Nice flavor mix. Good drink.
