We took our legendary Alpha Delta Collab "Phalanx", the formidable 135 Min IPA, and introduced it to one of our Oloroso barrels for 8 months. This has created a intricate barleywine.
The Olorosso barrel brings an aroma of walnut and spice that melds with the hops from Phalanx. Big flavours then follow: marmalade, dried fruits, truffle, tobacco and tannins.

750mL bottle, pours a deep dark orange, tiny head. Aroma is quite oxidized, with caramel, bready malt, and plenty of oxidation. Flavour is heavily oxidized, with bready malt, caramel, and booze. The oxidation is well-situated, finishing malty and yet dry. Good stuff but far from excellent.

Riverside Beer Fest 22. Aroma is sweet snd boozy, presumably picked up a lot from the barrel. Opaque dark amber. Frothy foamy white head. Sweet flava. Dark fruits and booze. Syrupy. Medium bodied. Oily. Average carbonation. Long slightly astringent finish. Lovely stuff
