The 2007 Trader Joes Vintage Ale is a brown Belgian-style ale of great distinction produced by traditional top fermentation methods resulting in a rich and full-bodied flavor. The Champagne like effervescence and smooth mouth feel are the result of a natural secondary fermentation the bottle obtained by the use of a carefully selected yeast culture. This vintage ale is characterised by a deep amber color topped by a rich head of foam. The prominent flavor of premium malts is perfectly balanced by a combination of three European hops and four distinctive spices. True to its Abbey Dubbel style, this years vintage ale offers a highly distinctive flavor enhanced by the fruity and floral notes of the yeast. The result is a complex and warming ale that offers both strength and subtlety. Brewed once a year in limited quantity, please enjoy Trader Joes 2007 Vintage Ale. This will age exceptionally over time, developing more complex flavor as the years go by. Exclusively bottled for Trader Joes. Best Before 10-28-2010.

A dark hazy brown ale with a thin receeding light moka head. A wonderful sweet prunes, honey, herbal hops and orange peels in aroma. In mouth, a good nutty spiced malt with coriander, and classy Unibroue yeast. Medium bodied. Tasted Nov. 2008.

750 ml bottle. Pours a dark ruby-brown color with a moderate foamy white head. Aroma is dark fruits. The flavor is like a good Abbey Dubbel. Figs, chocolate, eyast, toffee, spice. A solid beverage.

A very good dubbel. The Unibroue house character is certainly there, but not as much as some of their beers. Standard dubbel qualities, lots of malt and fruit, and just a little dry. No perceivable hops. Very well balanced, and the alcohol is well hidden. Sweet and smooth. Quite the bargain at $5. --- Beer merged from original tick of Vintage Ale (2007) on 30 Mar 2019 at 19:03 - Score: 7. Original review text: Aged since 2007. Still has a lot of carbonation. Palate has thinned a little. Still good for 12 years old.

Aromas of yeast, mild dark fruits, vanillan, and a hint of funky earth. Dark brown in color with a tan head that was respectable, hung around and laced a little. Medium to full bodied with creamy, almost chewy, carbonation. The flavor starts with spice, floral notes, and moves on to chocolate and lightly roasted malts. Also some treacle. The finish is balanced with sweet malt and bitter. It is not so smooth as the 2005, but give it a couple of years. Really good value. Excellent ale.

Pour is a murky looking brown with a large fizzy white head. Aroma dark fruit with candi sugar and Unibroue yeast. Flavor is some dark fruit sprinkled with brown sugar and some molasses. The flavor is not pronounced as some other Unibroue beers, but i have had worse examples of this style. And like most say, getting this beer for 5 bucks is a helluva deal.

Bottle. Ruby brown beer with a nice light tan head. Malty, caramel, raisin, earthy aroma. Light malty, yeasty, light raisin/plum flavor. Medium body. Light yeasty, malt, earthiness lingers. Could use a bit more depth, but I liked it more and more as I drank it.
