About the collaboration:
The team from Ace is always a pleasure to work with as their creativity, passion for beer, and dedication to the details sparks exciting ideas. Earlier this year we made our way up to Courtenay, BC to brew with them, now it's our turn to host the meeting of the minds!
About the beer:
This IPA is brewed exclusively with hand selected lots of early and late harvest Nelson Sauvin from our friends at Freestyle Hops to express bold hop flavours in addition to their Nelson Hop Kief for aromatic intensity. Expect loads of passion fruit, guava, and nectarine from this hop bomb of a brew.

It is opaque, with a thin head. The aroma is the hop burn version of Nelson. So there's definitely some nelson character, which I appreciate, but the malts are thin and the hop burn is needless. So it's a balance of things I like and things I don't.

473mL can, pours a cloudy yellow with a small white head. Aroma has gentle tangy hops, with some stone fruit pith and a touch of chalk. Flavour is somewhat chalky, with lots of gritty stone fruit pith, a hint of Nelson, and some chalk. Smells better than it tastes — damn chalk. And damn bad advertising, not labelling this as a hazy.

Tasting at Ryan's, can
Murky pale yellow colour. Nice aroma, good expresion from the Nelson Sauvin, leaning into some onion and dankness too. Smooth mouthfeel, a bit starchy but not egregious; off-dry; not much to say about the malt/oats base, but the hopping is surely well done, with plenty of Nelson Sauvin pungent character. Clean this up, add a bit of sweetness, and you have a banger.

16oz @ Ryan's (thx for the beer, dude!) shared with Faress and Alex. Appearance: murky blonde with a white head. Aroma: very dank, some car exhausts, somewhat juicy. Taste: along the same lines. Overall: meh.

Poured from 473mL can. Cloudy blonde gold with small white head. Dank and tangy hops, some gas fumes, lacks follow through on the taste, but it's decent.

473 ml can. Pours a thick whitish gold with light head. Aromas of spicy tropical fruit, pithy citrus and wheaty malts. Flavors follow same. It’s a hazy. Not labelled as such. Minus points.

A poorly labelled hazy IPA. Pours opaque yellow with small white head. Aroma has a Nelson-like quality, but it's fairly mild. Flavour has some tangy wine character along with chalky citrus and hopburn. Body is thin and the carbonation is weak. Pretty disappointing.
