A Pyrrhic Victory is one that inflicts such a devastating toll on the victor that it is tantamount to defeat. In making this winner of a triple IPA with our friends from Field House Brewing we broke the bank by loading it with a triple dose of Nectaron, HBC 1019, and Sabro hops.

Dullish colour, with a thick head. But it looks like too much oxygen. Strong in alcohol but the malts are weak and that undermines the hop expression. There's some overripe fruit stuff, but this lacks punch. Seems to have potential but didn't come together right in production.

473mL can. Pours slightly hazy blonde with small white head. Aroma has a nice combination of stonefruit and pine hops. Flavour is quite juicy, a lot more of the stonefruit coming through here. Very tame though, almost none of the harsh hoppiness I would have expected from a triple IPA. Pretty decent, but needs more hops.

473 ml cash. Pours a hazy amber with light head. Aromas of melons, soft candied orange, and bready malts. Flavors follow same with a bit of white pepper and wheaty malts. More along the lines of a Hazy…

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Hazy blond colour, pale. Fruity aroma, melon over all, with some tangerine and sweet lemon. Lean mouthfeel, little residual sweetness; the malt base is decent, it's delicate, wheat bread; the hops are very fruity, fresh, melon, touch of pine; the bitterness is just fine for the style; in the finish, definitively the alcohol is evident.
Pretty good.

473mL can, pours a minimally hazy pale golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out resinous hops, lots of stone fruits, and a touch of pine. Flavour is extremely fruity, with lots of tropical stone fruits, gentle resins, and a touch of oiliness. Low bitterness, high fruitiness. Solid but needs more bittering hops.
