Originally brewed in 2023, Megalith is made with 100% floor-malted Maris Otter. A 6-hour boil creates concentrated fruitcake and cherry candy aromas with dulce de leche and chewy molasses cookie flavours, finishing smooth with the warming of alcohol.

355mL can. Pours almost clear amber with small white head. Aroma has plenty of sweet and grainy malts, light brown sugar, vanilla. Flavour has a lot of wheaty malts, some sugars, a bit of vanilla. Tastes more like a wheat wine than a barley wine. Seems pretty ham-fisted, but still okay.

Bottle from The Gull, North Vancouver
Copper colour, clean and bright. Aroma of bread, and caramel. Full bodied; the malt profile is very bready, it doesn't have the depth of a Barley Wine, but it's tasty; strong bitterness, touch of toffee, and some alcohol in the finish.

Poured from 650mL bottle. Clear amber orange with small white head. Fruitcake and caramel malt, alcohol hidden for the abv, not ton of other complexity here. Decent, but a bit one note.

Amber and a bit murky. Fairly thick head. Dark fruity, sticky, figs, a bit of fruitcake. Sticky malt, decent bitterness but it kind of clashes with the malt, or at least the heavy alcohol does.

650 ml bottle. Pours a rich mahogany colour with light head. Aromas of earthy Christmas cake, dark fruit, a little rubber, and bready malts. Flavors of sweet dark fruit, mineral water, doughy malts and a little citrus.

On tap at Steel & Oak, pours a clear amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out bready malt, some earthiness, and a touch of fruitcake. Flavour is on the less sweet side for a barley wine, with bready malt, toasted caramel and a bit of fruitcake. The lower-than-average sweetness for the style definitely works but it leaves something to be desired for complexity. Still, good effort here.
