A deep dark porter with a thin brown head. In aroma, beautiful mix sweet chocolate, light coffee, smooth bourbon barrel notes, woody notes, alcohol warmth, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, alcohol warmth, bourbon barrel notes, light vanilla, very nice. On tap at Festival des Bières de Laval 2023.

(375ml bottle from Alimentation L'Impact, Quebec City) Pours brown-black with a decent pale cream head that lingers and leaves lace. Aroma of baker's chocolate, milk chocolate, burnt grains with a soft smokiness, slight acidic black coffee, moderate bourbon and some vanilla. Flavour has quite a chocolate core, with a mix of chocolate milk powder and bittersweet baking chocolate, nice moderate plus roast that's dusty and a little ashy or smoky, sweetish malt core but nicely dark fruit-inflected, bourbon is definitely present with some boozy warmth and spirit quality, wood is pretty soft but helps the drydown, and there's a fair whack of floral vanilla that builds into the finish. Finish is fairly dry, ashy grains, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla and some wood, a bit mineral, with a twang of roast acidity. Light to medium body for style, maybe a little thin, with pretty soft carbonation. Impressive brewing here, with the clean crispness of a baltic porter and nicely handled barrels/adjuncts.
