Welcome to the dark side! We’ve taken our most popular beer, bumped up the ABV and chucked a bunch of dark malts into the mix. Truly a crunchy in a can.

440ml can. Poured almost black in colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is sugary honeycomb. The flavour is strong sweet, with a smooth, somewhat rich, sugary saccharine, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, honeycomb, light liquorice bitter palate. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. A real sugar bomb that wasn’t entirely pleasant.

On Tap at Ebenezers, Crewe. Pours almost black with a small tan head and good lacing. There’s honey, chocolate and vanilla in the aroma. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a smooth creamy texture. Flavour has roasted malts alongside chocolate and honey. Some hints of spice come through later. Finish is slightly dry and sweet. Excellent ! Just wish it hadn’t run out in mid pour !

440ml can from Asda. Near black in colour, with a tight, off-white, head. Sweet milk chocolate and honey aroma, living up to its Crunchie bar billing. Complex flavour, with some rich chocolate character upfront, some vanilla oak, toasty malt, and a hint of almond, leading to a rich finish. Excellent.

Keg @ Seven Brothers Beerhouse, Liverpool. Has a good roasted malts character, coming across very chocolatey in both aroma and taste. Has a good body and is smooth tasting.

A deep dark stout with a thin creamy mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, vanilla, very nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity chocolate malt with dark fruits, light mineral notes, light vanilla, faint honey, pleasant. On tap at Liverpool location.
