Keg at the brewpub. Clear dark amber, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of toffee and citrus. Taste is toffee, plum, booze. Medium bodied, hot.

A hazed orange amber barley wine with a thin white head. A nice woody vinous aroma, with treacle and caramel, a bit of herbal hops. In mouth, a nice yet light barley wine, with good vinous molassey malt, light British hops, medium bodied. On tap at brewpub, Oct. 25 2009.

A well made beer. I agree, can be syrupy, but the presentation is great in a big broad wine goblet. Lots of hops. have to try it again. Rerate. 2002. I think theyve worked this beer out very well. I see hardly any syrupy presence, just a strong, hoppy barleywine that goes down well. I suppose to be constructive, could use some more complex flavors, as this is your basic tons of malted barley and hops, with that characteristic plum/cherry/raisin taste.
