It often takes a truly amazing event to create something new. In science, for example, it takes a Supernova to create the heavier chemical elements. In the Funk Lab, our team of brewers decided to use Brettanomyces yeast as a catalyst for creating our "Uncommon Element Brett Pale Ale". A light malt base and the abundance of Hallartau Blanc and Mosaic hops, combined with the Brett Drie, give this beer a beautiful flavour and aroma of tropical and stone fruits, with a funk backbone. This beer may be uncommon, but we hope not for long!

375ml bottle. Barely clear, golden colour with delayed chippy, average, foamy, beaten egg white-like, mostly lasting, minimally lacing, snow-white head. Bretty aroma with moderate funkiness, Hubba Bubba bubblegum "fruitiness" and sweet(-ish)-ness, floral notes, a touch of powdered sugar. Taste is tart-ish, dry, mildly funky, bretty, some residual, biscuity, pale malty sweetness with a touch of sugar powder and floral overtones, some hop bitterness; overall mild, light and close to watery. Appropriate to chum up with brett on a rather low-level entry, surely reducing the danger of prompt deterrence.

Effervescence active, corps moyen. Interprétation originale et plutôt fruitée du style. Excellente.

Bottle from the LCBO. Lightly hazed pale gold with a one finger slow fading white head. Nose has some light lemon, lime, melon, pineapple, honey, light Brett funk, grass and light peach. Flavour follows with a light honey and fruit sweetness, a medium- tropical fruit bitterness, and subdued Brett tartness adding some complexity. Mouth is medium with prickly carbonation and a lightly sticky finish. Quite nice. 8/3+/7/4/15

Bottled 375ml. -Courtesy of franski, shared with him and several others. Unclear yellow coloured, medium sized white head, Brett in the nose. The taste is spicy hoppy, light herbal, bit perfumed and mild yeasty with usual Brett signature. Not bad but stereotype and boring.

Bottle - Nice tropical fruity and Brett notes. Cloudy yellow gold with a rich white head. Light lemon, orange and Brett notes with a bone dry finish. This is quite nice and the brett adds a very nice fruitiness without too much funk. Nice.

Enjoyed at Brother’s Beer bistro. Pours a golden clean colour with a warm cap, average stay and creamy lacing. Belgian Ale yeast smell with the sweetness, fruitiness and mild Brett. The taste is hoppy bitter, but not crazy dry. Fruity and grassy in the finish. The is a pretty nice pale ale with Belgian Ale notes.
