Creamy, toasty and fruity with vanilla and a beautiful light acidity from cherries and roasted grains. This stout will be both sumptuous and very approachable; the balance of fruit, milk sugars and vanilla will create a pleasing body that is fulsome but not too rich.

On tap at Last Heretic, Burton on Trent. Pours almost black with no head whatsoever. There’s chocolate and vanilla in the aroma. In the mouth it is rather sweet with flavours of chocolate, strawberries, cream and lactose. Later on there is a slight sharpness to the flavour with cola and hints of alcoholic strength. This is quite nice – but a bit too much flavouring and not enough beeriness !

Keg at the Bear, Paddington, 09/05/2025.
Not sure I've seen a Beer 52 offering on tap in a bar before?
Black topped with a tan head.
Nose is chocolate, mellow cherry, light roast, toasted brown sugars.
Taste comprises roasted tones, hint of black forest gateaux, toffee, charr.
Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close.
Okay simple stout.

Very dark brown, tan head that quickly disipates

A - vanilla and vanilla
F - milky vanilla, astringent coffee aftertaste, there are slight cherry undertones

creamy mouthfeel, its a decent beer but a bit to vanilla for me

Black pour with small beige to tanned head. Certainly has that black forest gateau aroma with chocolate, cherries, vanilla as well as hint of coffee roast. Taste has a roast, cherry, chocolate, vanilla sweetness. Tangy and a long bitterness in the finish. Medium bodied, high frothy carbonation. Good balance to this one. The adjuncts might lack a freshness but the flavours are good. Better than expected.

Can from Beer52. It pours clear darkest brown to black with a bubbly off - white head. The aroma is sweet - sour, vibrant crunchy ripe cherry, vanilla, Bakewell tart, toasty malt and some marzipan. The taste is dry, bitter - sweet, sweet - sour, ripe cherry, crunchy, tangy red fruits, almond, roasted malt, toast, some vanilla, cherry jam, cacao nibs and Bakewell tart with a toasty finish. Light to average body and fine carbonation. Never too sweet of artificial. Works pretty well really.

0.33 l can, Beer 52 package, thanks to Višnja 666 who brought it from London, shared with Ade McSquid and Višnja 666. Dark brown to black, small beige head. Sweet chocolate candy, intense syrupy, slightly fake, coca-cola aroma. Marzipan and chocolate flavour, nutty, roasty, lightly burnt, some sweetness, better balance. Smooth, light to medium body, some tartness, better balance. Smooth lasting finish.
