Sampled from a can this beer poured a bright yellow gold color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was tangy, sweet, corny and perfumey. The flavor was tangy and sweet with corn, perfume and artificial grape. Medium length finish. Light body.

Can. Poured a pale clear gold with a quickly dissipating white soda like head. Aroma flavor was full of adjuncts with a bit of a grain note. Flavor was similar with plenty of adjunct (corn) and a bit of grass and hay.

Brewed under license by the Phu Yen Beverage Company in Vietnam. Skillfully hunted in Nha Trang. Lovely pale straw colour with no head. When I poured it, it smelled like apple juice but that blew off to reveal grains, maybe some sourness, and mustiness of a non-happy, non-lambic type. Taste of mineral water mixed with post-teethbrushing apple juice. Finishes sticky and with paint-like, gluey notes. Yum.

Since 2007 I have tasted this again made by city brewing in latrobe. A little more rude and has a little bit of a gag reflex going on. previously I gave this a 2.3 but now its luckey to get a 1.9.------- 2007: 12 oz can that proudly states it’s purpose. I love these Pittsburgh Brews that have the superlatives on them. Pop the lid for a yeasty beery aroma backed with metallic hints. Ubiquitous pale yellow american beer color - no kidding. The taste is a little more forward than I’m used to with good lagers. The American light seems to be a better, more well behaved brew. Some bitter hints and I’m not sure if it is malt, hops or whatever. Finish is a bit industrial and come to think of it, a little like Iron City. Nice carbonation. Much better tasting than Big City Ice. Not bad for an economy beer. They should put this stuff in bottles and ship it across the United States to the Mexican Border. Overall, OK for an economy beer but there are others out there for about the same price that taste much better. It’s sister beers Light Brigade and old German is the same price and much more palatable.

2005 can from Julio’s, consumed on 7/1/2005. Hmmm, this one seems about as yellow as IC Beer, though this one lacked any rapidly rising bubbles. More still and watery looking if that makes any sense. No head, no lacing, no anything. Clear. The nose did not have any soft fruit or light malts. Really just a mess of corn and powdered sugar. Unfortunately, you can’t even write this off as a bland, clean example. I note metal in the nose, which then carries through to the flavor. Huge amounts of water is what I mostly get, followed by metal and corn. Extremely sharp, biting, noxious carbonation creates a very unwanted mouthfeel. Light/extra-light bodied. Extremely quick lagering times do not good beers make.
