Only found in speciality organic foodstores, Bionelle is quite another class of beer. It bears the famous AB (organically grown) label and is of course certified by the independent organization, Ecocert. A natural, unfiltered beer, its light character makes it an ideal summer beverage, best served at between 5 and 6ºC.

(Bottle 25 cl) A very yellow beer, slightly hazy with sediment and a gigantic, white head. Extremely flowery nose from the fine aroma hops. Mellow, malty notes, very refined without much bitterness. Organic. 080303

2005 bottle at Mondial, 6/4/05. Smells like dry, old, fuggles or EKGs. Cheesey, soft, pleasant and lightly funky. Yellow-gold color, with touches of soft, orange tones. Small white head is retained at cover and is lightly creamy. Small, lazy bubbles rise to the surface. Clear, yet it claims to be unfiltered. Maybe I got the top of the bottle, I dont remember. Lacing on the glass makes a good case for it. Flavor is light powdered sugar with lemon at first, then getting lightly tart with nice dry wheat flavors. BIts of honey and vienna malt-like graininess. Soft, flowery hops are again flavorful if somewhat faint, with plenty of dusty yeast. A very unique beer, to say the least. I could drink quite a number of these. Very understated in every way; body, hops flavor, malt, carbonation. It’s all there in ample enough form, but nothing jumps out. Medium body, ending dry. Wheat and grainy malt provide texture, while there is a touch of wateriness on the end.

The aroma is sweet, slightly malty with notes of lemon. The aroma is too faint. The color is a slightly hazy yellow and it has a fine but fast disappearing head. The flavor is sweet, slightly malty with notes of straw, lemon, and some bitterness. It ends on a nice bitter malty note. A very refreshing beer.
