Growler. A hazy amber beer with a yellowish head. The aroma has notes of malt, caramel, phenols, and fruit. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, alcohol, and fruit, leading to a lightly tart finish.

Growler. Slightly hazy amber golden with a small, creamy off-white head. Aroma of caramel, fruit and licorice. Quite full-bodied, sweetish fruit - also overripe fruit - and caramel. Absolutely no bitterness. A bit on the sweet side. 110709

(10/29/08) Bottle at the brewery in Stockton (thanks a lot Steve and Mike!). Hazy amber color. Aroma of dark fruits, some malt and sugar notes. Sweet malty flavor with caramel, cookie hints, fruits and alcohol. Medium to full-bodied.

Noogfest Thanks to Beerguy101 for bringing this one to share! Pours with a fleeting white head over a dark amber body. Slight malt aroma with alcohol, raisins, prunes, brown sugar, and honey. Flavor follows the aroma. Smooth and full bodied.

Bottle shared with Olivier and David on 9/30/07, thanks to KrausenJockey!
This one really suffered from not being bottle conditioned and was otherwise a fine (if perhaps somewhat too sweet) beer. The carbonation was too low, allowing the sweetness to overbear, the texture became slightly syrupy/sugary and it didnt have that Belgian yeast flare that bottle conditioned bottles develop, leaving it a bit too starkly clean. That said, there’s no need to crucify someone for the serving method and no doubt they would bottle condition this in an ideal world.
The body did seem a little thinned out, however, and with a candy sugar-like feel and flavor to it. Seemed that that adjunct was attenuated very easily, but some caramel maltiness left behind seems a bit unfinished.
A robust copper-gold in color, reminding me of La Trappe Quad, this one had a small white head that quickly dissipated to a ring of white bubbles, leaving little lacing.
As usual, there were absolutely no flaws, nor was the beer fuselic. Pleasant for what it was, with interesting notes of toffee, marzipan and nuts, but would love to see the carbonation increased and tightened up.

Slightly hazy amber. Medium head. Slightly peachy, orangey aroma. Sweet, well-balanced. Peach, pear fruitiness with brave candy notes that manage not to be cloying. Fun brew.
