Draught at CBC, 11/19/15.
Dark orange-amber body shows a soft haziness and a light beige head that is wispy and slowly fades to a ring.
Strong brett in the nose, with a good dose of oaky vanilla and very little of the spice from the pumpkin ale breaking through (CBC’s pumpkin ale is very minimally spiced, so it’s not too surprising). Some coarse/sharp edges, but there’s some subtle and earthy funk that is fun, certainly with light caramel and vanilla adding a good balance.
Straightforward in the flavor, the sourness sallies forth, not terribly aggressively, though again, there is a bit of excess tannin/acidity. Pumpkin and spice are very reserved and there is a very low carbonation that may be off-putting to some. Slightly slick texture with low but ample sweetness. Good concentrated brett flavors with very light pumpkin that actually works just fine beside it.
