Draught at the brewpub, 11/1/15.
Inky black beer with some cherry cola tints on the edges. Medium to medium high clarity with a beige head that is poorly retained.
Yeast or water in the nose with a very light dusting of cocoa and vanilla. Not really much going on in the nose, yet nor are there any problems.
Moderately sweet caramel and chocolate notes in the flavor also show light vanilla, hints of roast and lots of honey-toffee sweetness on the end. It’s not overly sweet, big picture wise, yet nor is it terribly crisp. Very low complexity, but competently drinkable. Based on the two beers I had here, it seems like just another middle-of-the-road, ubiquitous, high water-to-malt ratio brewpub, translating in to watery, low aroma, low flavor, but clean, drinkable beers. Not dying to go back, but I should at least make it to try some of their bigger beer offerings and see if those are made a little more stringently.
