Draught at the brewery, 10/6/15.
Lightly hazy light amber body is topped by a small but well-retained creamy off-white head.
Lovely brett nose is accompanied by light cereals, dough, white pepper, wet hay a light earthiness. But it stays mostly perfumey, with the brett contributing its tart limeskin-like components. Low on barrel notes with no booze or flaw.
Really enjoyable acidity up front from the brett, tart and drying but quickly relaxing in to a honey-caramel maltiness that in turn finishes with lots of bread dough, biscuit and earthiness; all combinations of the brett, barrel tannin and malt. Rather supple, malty, medium-full body, surprisingly, and with warming, it actually gets a bit sweet for my liking. The carbonation is fairly engaging, helping tone the sweetness down somewhat, and a little bit of acidity lingers, aiding this as well. Love the abv here, most of all, and it succeeds as a flavorful, clean session ale.
