Bottle. Dark amber body wit a creamy beige head. Aroma has caramel malt and unfortunately lots of cooked vegetables. Flavor is not sweet malt with bitter nuts and vegetables. I guess something was wrong with this bottle.

Clown Shoes does it right with their imperial stouts generally, time to see if it works for an imperial porter. This 22 oz bottle came to me a couple of months ago by way of the craft beer store in Odessa I frequent. A stamp on the bottles says bottling took place on 8/3/18. Tonight the glass of choice is my Buffalo Bayou snifter and the tunes are delivered by Steely Dan. You cannot come up with a much darker body than this, the top is a minimal skim of of light brown foam. The smell wafting up is aggressively chocolate, caramel and wood. And the drink ultimately, Chocolate again, some berry, a welcome booziness, nuts, all with a small sweetness. Guess I got a good one.

Dark brown with a fleeting, foamy light brown head. Chocolate, cherry pop and pecan aroma. Taste is sweet, dry and bittersweet at the end with a light, lingering tartness. Not bad but lacking complexity.

Bomber from Cap Tap. Pours dark brown with a creamy dark tan head. Aroma begins with bourbon, then smooth dark treacle, and finally some dusty pecan aroma. Near or even full bodied. Flavor is a touch of heat, some nutty/pecan, bourbon/vanilla and some dark treacly malt. I think wood is part of it, but the flavors are strong and it's hard to be sure. Overall I guess it's mostly about the bourbon and the pecans. Interesting and flavorful ale.
