Can at home in Hackney - picked up from the Quarter Store. Pours clear, deep brown with a modest, foamy tan head. Light-medium sweet flavour with decent smoked malt character, a little cocoa, roast, earth, brown bread. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Nicely balanced finish, more toasted bread, relaxed smoke, nips of burnt ham. Sound.

Can bought at Bottle Cave, Sydenham. Aroma is smoky, with yeastyness and a hint of burnt caramel. Murky darkest brown. Thin creamy off-white head. A smoky bitterness throughout, a fug. Roasty. Charcoal. Sour citrus edge. Underlying sweet lager yeast more evident into the finish. Light-medium bodied. Slick. Flat carbonation. Long finish. Surprisingly refreshing but not overly smoky. Enjoyable.
